'My doctor told me to be quiet while giving birth - it was so rude'

A woman was left offended while giving birth as her doctor told her to 'be quiet' as she was making too much noise during contractions.

Mum of three Yasmyn Switzer, 20, has shared her story on TikTok, explaining that she thought the doctor was incredibly rude and inconsiderate.

She said that while giving birth to her third child, she made noises during the delivery and was told to keep the volume down so the doctor 'could hear'.

Yasmyn shared her story with her followers online and soon she had over 230,000 views and was inundated with comments - many of which praised her for keeping a cool head.

What do you think about the doctor's choice of words? Let us know in the comments...

Taking to TikTok, where she uploads as @yasmynswitzer, Yasmyn said: "I was super nice, even in labour I'm not the type of person who's cursing out the doctors or confrontational.

"My water broke, I thought it broke about 10 minutes before, so I was in the active pushing part for about 10 minutes.

"The doctor came in right after my water broke then as I'm pushing I am not like screaming or really being that loud but kind of moaning along with when I'm pushing my daughter out and I'm listening to my body.

"In the middle of my contractions as I'm pushing her out and making noise the doctor goes 'I'm going to need you to be quiet so I can hear'.

"It was so rude, I've been with this doctor a lot through my pregnancies and she's always not had the best bedside manners.

"I blacked out for a minute after that... I was pretty mad about the whole experience."

Yasmyn said that her daughter was delivered safely but she remained sour about the experience, and after sharing her story on TikTok others could see why she was mad.

One said: "Make a complaint!"

And another wrote: "My doctor and nurses kept yelling they were like 'LOUDER, get angry - it’ll help you push'. They were awesome. I’m sorry you went through this."

Then a third added: "What is it that she needs to 'hear'. This story makes me mad. I’m sorry this is your experience."
