'My day is ruined' - Man United fans say same thing after Marcus Rashford injury update

Manchester United fans face an anxious wait after Erik ten Hag admitted he was unsure if Marcus Rashford would be fit enough to start the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United on Sunday.

The England international sustained an ankle injury in the second half of the Reds' 2-1 Europa League play-off victory over Barcelona on Thursday night, with the forward being substituted in the 88th minute.

Rashford has been in scintillating form in recent months and has bagged 16 goals in his last 18 games. The 25-year-old is the club's top goalscorer this campaign with 24 goals and will be assessed over the next 48 hours ahead of Sunday's final.

With Anthony Martial still sidelined with a hip injury - having last completed 90 minutes in January 2021 - United will be understandably concerned about the fitness of Rashford. The Reds are aiming to win their first trophy since 2017, and the absence of their talisman would come as a major blow.

Here's how some United supporters reacted to Rashford's injury scare on social media...

When asked whether Rashford would recover in time for the final at the weekend, Ten Hag admitted that he was unsure if the England ace will play.

"I don't know," Ten Hag said when asked if Rashford would recover. "Players are now coming in, we have to do investigations, medical, of course, yesterday we did. So straight after a game most of the time you can't say, you have to wait for a 100 per cent diagnosis. So let's do the medical, the work, we have to wait."

United are the only side in England still competing on all four fronts, with the quadruple still on the cards for the Reds. Ten Hag's men are currently third in the Premier League table, and host West Ham in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday. Moreover, the win over Barcelona has secured a draw with Real Betis in the last 16 of the Europa League.
