Residents living in a south Manchester neighbourhood claim they have been plagued for months by ‘cat-sized rats’.
Yasmin Rakha, 40, says the rat infestation outside her home on Fleeston Street, in Rusholme, is so bad her children are afraid to go outside.
Despite contacting Manchester City Council, she claims the problem has yet to be fixed and continues to find dead mice inside her house, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Yasmin said: “Cat-sized rats run along the street, fences, and die inside our house - my daughters [aged three and five] are frightened. Because of this I refuse to let my children play outside."
Neighbour Nyla Ali, 28, said: "Rat poison doesn't work. You can hear them throughout the night because the communal bins are opposite. One entered my house while I unloaded my shopping. It’s a nightmare.”
Councillor Lee-Ann Igbon, Executive Member for Vibrant Neighbourhoods says they "take pest control very seriously" and are aware of the "ongoing pest issues in and around Rusholme".
Their teams have been implementing measures over the last few months, as well as additional targeted treatment to help the issue, and continue to offer subsidised rat treatment plans by the council.
