Fans of USA show My 600lb Life, which airs on TLC, have congratulated one of the programmes stars for her staggering weight loss that has left her 'unrecognisable'. Angela Marie Dunham-Johns, better known as Angie J, was quite controversial during her stint on the popular TV show, but viewers have showered her with praise for shedding more than half her own weight.
She left many impressed as she appeared in a recent episode of the spin-off show, My 600lb Life: Where Are They Now?, as well as on social media as she continues to keep her followers updated with her weight loss journey. At her heaviest, Angie hit 643lb - the equivalent of 45 stone and 291 kilograms - but she has now lost more than 300lbs.
In a new post on Facebook, it would seem Angie has been able to keep up the good work after shedding the pounds, with her latest profile picture highlighting her slimmed down physique. While appearing on the seventh season of Where Are They Now? the show's resident surgeon Dr Younan Nowzaradan, aka Dr Now, was delighted by her progress and her total loss of 333lbs.

She also revealed that she was no longer using her wheelchair to get around, as reported by the Express. Many viewers were thrilled to see Angie much healthier, and celebrated her achievements when her appearance was released on TLC's YouTube channel.
@Sha'DaTV commented: “Angie has come a long way. She's even walking on her own. Very proud of her! She even looks healthier. Her daughter needs to get active before her weight gets out of hand though.”
Audrey Wilson said: “I’m so happy for her, and even though she still has a long road....she can finally experience and enjoy life! And that confidence will just keep getting better!” @AlexanderPlatzBerlin wrote: “Unbelievable…Angie was so non-compliant in the series. I am proud of her!”
@Dannii S added: “This is fantastic. I'm really happy for Angie. I hope she has a happy and healthy future.” @TL typed: "I'm so happy for Angie, she was by far the most difficult patient on the show. Go Angie!"
Angie's time on My 600lb Life wasn't entirely smooth sailing, initially she refused Dr Now's help and even got into arguments over his diet plan. Some viewers struggled to sympathise with her at first, as she claimed he was “punishing” her and lied about her habits when she tested positive for opiate use and heavy cigarette smoking.
As the episodes rolled on, viewers got a glimpse into Angie's past as she opened up about a tragic history involving sexual abuse, drug addiction and prison time. But after help from Dr Now, Angie soon realised her food addiction was in her head and she was finally able to overcome her compulsions and start losing weight.
My 600lb Life continues Thursdays on TLC in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
