'Pay up': artists, authors argue AI steals their work

Australian musicians and authors are fighting a proposal to allow artificial intelligence to scrape data from their work, fearing the technology will mimic or steal their art.

The Productivity Commission floated the idea of a text and data mining exception for the Copyright Act as a possible reform to "keep pace" with AI in a report released in September.
