Mushroom hunters entered a Nepal forest and found a nest built by the only snake known to make one. Officials have now restricted access while conservationists monitor the site

In a routine search for wild mushrooms deep in a community forest in Nepal, extraordinary wildlife has been discovered. Local residents exploring the forest floor near Jhakri Sota in the Ambe Community Forest came across something few people ever get to see: a carefully built nest of a king cobra. For the uninitiated, the king cobra is one of the world’s most elusive reptiles, but it’s also the only known snake to build nests for its eggs. The discovery has prompted authorities to limit public access to the region while conservationists monitor the nesting site.
