Murderer Ian Huntley seriously injured in prison assault

Ian Huntley Prison

Soham killer Ian Huntley sustained serious injuries following an assault at HMP Frankland in County Durham on Thursday morning.
Durham Constabulary confirmed a male prisoner, understood to be Huntley, was taken to hospital after the incident.
The Sun reported that Huntley was knocked unconscious with a metal pole, with sources describing his condition as "touch and go".
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the assault, liaising with prison staff.
Huntley is currently serving a life sentence for the 2002 murders of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham, Cambridgeshire.
