Murdered wrestler’s family alleges threat from Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar’s aides

ROHTAK: The family of murdered wrestler Sagar Dhankhar has alleged that gang members, associated with arrested double Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar, have been using pressure tactics and threats to force out-of-court settlement in the matter.

Sagar, a promising wrestler, had been murdered at Chhatarsal stadium in Delhi in which name of Sushil had cropped up. A video had surfaced in which accused Sushil could be seen beating up Sagar.

Addressing a press conference at Sonipat on Tuesday, Sagar’s father Ashok Kumar alleged that the family is being pressurised to settle the matter out of court so that accused Sushil Kumar could come out of jail. He alleged that his other son Aakash, who is studying in Australia, is also being threatened in order to convince his family on the matter.

“Sushil and other accused have links in Australia too and they are using their influence in terrorising my son. He has been threatened that he will have to face consequences if he does not purusade his parents to settle the case,” he alleged.

He said they have been facing serious mental torture and feeling intimidated due to the threats.

The family said they have appealed to the government to provide full-proof security to the family members and also pursue the case of security of their son Aakash in Australia in the interest of justice.
