Allan West, 67, was discovered at the property on Bowhouse Road at around 6.40pm on Monday, August 22. Officers attended and the dad was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives have confirmed they have now launched a murder investigation.
Allan's death has left his loved ones completely heartbroken. In a statement released through Police Scotland, his family said: "We are absolutely devastated by these events. Allan was a much loved father and will be sorely missed."
Alan's family have asked for privacy following the tragedy.
No arrests have yet been made, but police say they are "doing all they can" to establish the full circumstances.
Local residents reported seeing a heavy police presence in the area with a cordon put in place round the block of flats near Islay Court on Tuesday. Specialist forensic officers in white suits were seen entering the flats while uniformed officers stood guard the scene.
Police remained at the scene on Wednesday evening as the block of flats remained taped off. Officers are now appealing for information.
Detective Chief Inspector Frank Travers, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Allan’s family at this difficult time. I want to reassure them and the wider community that we are doing all we can to establish the full circumstances of what has happened
“We have a dedicated team of officers investigating his death and there will be an added police presence in the area while our enquiries continue. Anyone with concerns should speak to officers.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen Allan in the days leading up to his death to get touch as they may hold valuable information that could assist officers.
“Anyone who has seen anything suspicious in or near Allan’s flat should also get in touch, no matter how insignificant you think your information could be.
