TWO people have been charged with murder over the alleged stabbing of a man in Newcastle's Beaumont Street.
Emergency services had been called to Hamilton, about 2.40am Sunday November 17, and found a 22-year-old man suffering multiple stab wounds. He died in hospital at short time later.
Newcastle police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Mannum, with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.
Following inquiries, a 27-year-old man was arrested at Waratah police station about 11am Monday November 18.
The man, from North Lambton, has now been charged with murder and has been refused bail to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday.
About 5.10pm the same day, a 33-year-old woman was arrested at a bus stop at Bankstown.
She was taken to Bankstown police station and charged with murder and has been refused bail to appear in Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Phone footage capturing the moments leading up to the fatal stabbing, which the Newcastle Herald has chosen not to publish due to its confronting nature, has been circulating on social media on Monday.
In the graphic video, a group of people can be seen having a physical altercation on the road, and others can be heard yelling.
It's understood mobile phone video was provided to police as part of the investigation.
