NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has rescheduled its special budget meeting, originally set for Friday, to December 9, where the revised budget estimates for 2023-24 and the budget estimates for 2024-25 were to be tabled.
The official notice did not provide a reason for the postponement.
The meeting will now take place on Saturday at 2 pm.
MCD Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti was slated to present the revised budget estimates during the special session. The BJP criticized the delay, alleging that councillors were not given copies of the budget.
Leader of Opposition in MCD, Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh, strongly condemned the decision to defer the budget presentation. The annual budget, as per the MCD calendar, is traditionally presented by December 10.
However, due to the weekend falling on December 9 and 10 this year, it was decided to present the budget on December 8."
