Mundka Blaze: Two company owners arrested; search on for building owner

Delhi Police on Saturday arrested two owners of a private company

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Saturday arrested two owners of a private company in connection with the Mundka fire incident. The company was operating in the building where the accident took place. Police is now looking for the landlord Manish Lakar, who is still absconding.

Harish Goyal and Varun Goel, owners of a company that manufactures CCTV and routers, have been arrested under various criminal sections, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, police sources said here.

Deputy Commissioner of Police outer district Sameer Sharma on Saturday said that action would be taken against officers also if they are found guilty in the investigation.

"We've registered FIR under appropriate sections. Action will be taken against everyone who did anything wrong or didn't follow rules. We will do a proper investigation, action will be taken against officers too if they're found culpable," the officer said.

At least 27 people were killed and around 12 were seriously injured when a massive fire broke out in a four-storey building in west Delhi's Mundka on Friday evening. After the rescue operation at the fire incident site near Mundka metro station was over, a fire official claimed that the death toll could rise to 30.
