Mumbai's Ira Jadhav becomes first-ever triple-centurion in BCCI Women's U-19 tournament

MUMBAI: Mumbai girl Ira Jadhav on Sunday created a sensational record when she became the first-ever batter to score a triple century in the BCCI Women's Under-19 One-Day tournament.

Opening the batting at the Alur Cricket Stadium near Bengaluru, Jadhav scored a blistering, unbeaten 346 off just 157 balls, studded with 16 sixes and 42 fours against the Meghalaya women's under-19 team.

Riding on Jadhav's magnificent knock, the Mumbai under-19 women's team scored 563 for three to create another record-this is the first time that a team has scored 500-plus in this tournament.

Jadhav is amongst the standbyes for the upcoming Women's Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia.

"Hats off to Ira, who is an under-15 player, but represents Mumbai in all the age group teams. I hope to see her in India colours," former India womens team captain Diana Edulji told TOI.

Mumbai then shot out a listless Meghalaya for just 19 in 25.4 overs to score a record 544-run victory.

Brief Scores: Mumbai 563-3 in 50 overs (Ira Jadhav 346 not out, Hurley Gala 116, Diksha Pawar 39) beat Meghalaya 19 in 25.4 overs (Jeeya Madrawadkar 3-4) by 544 runs
