MUMBAI: Timely action initiated by the Powai police cyber cell helped 23-year-old Vani Sachdeva get back Rs 46,028 fraudulently siphoned from her bank account after the fraudster had made her download ‘Team Viewer/Quick Support’ on July 30. She received the full amount on Thursday, after the police made the bank freeze the account to which the money was credited after she approached them in the ‘Golden Hour’ soon after the fraud.
Upon receiving the complaint, DCP (zone X) Maheshwar Reddy supervised Powai police senior inspector Budhan Sawant, inspector Ganesh Patil, sub-inspector (cyber) Sudhir Pilane who got in touch with the Nodal officers of the e-wallet, and the bank, and blocked the transactions. The fraudster got access to her mobile and stole the banking details.
