MUMBAI: An FIR has been filed against a 33-year-old woman from New Delhi for allegedly blackmailing and extorting Rs56 lakh from a Shiv Sena MP. Saki Naka police registered the FIR on the orders of Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court order on Tuesday, DCP (Zone X) Maheshwar Reddy said.
The MP filed the complaint with the court on May 12 after the woman threatened to tarnish his image through a social media campaign if he did not meet her demand to divorce his wife and marry her by claiming that he is in a relationship with her, police said. The MP’s complaint mentioned that he had filed a case against the woman with Bandra police station on October 29, 2021.
“He had also filed a complaint with the Sharjah police and got her jailed there for 78 days. But she continued harassing him after she came out of jail,” said a police officer referring to the complaint. —
