Mumbai: Builder booked for noise pollution rules breach

MUMBAI: Mahavir Developers from Chembur have been booked under Section 115 of the Bombay Police Act for breaching noise pollution norms by carrying out construction work after 10pm, among other violations like dumping debris in the area, said city police commissioner Sanjay Pandey during his weekly live-streaming on Sunday.

Pandey warned developers that failure to follow the rules could attract Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections. “Last week, we had a meeting with CREDAI-MCHI—an apex body comprising members from the real estate Industry in Mumbai Metropolitan Region—but the developers had taken my instructions lightly. Now, they will understand that violating rules will attract stern action. In the Chembur builder case, they continued laying slabs and creating noise pollution after 10pm,” Pandey said, during his third live Facebook streaming.
