Most people are often very accommodating towards mothers with children in prams using public transport as it can be a challenging task, especially if it is busy. However, there is no guarantee that there will be room for you and the whole experience can end up being rather stressful, the Mirror reports.
One mother has claimed she was 'screamed' and sworn at after she decided to take it upon herself to walk to another bus stop to ensure she would be let onto the bus with her child's buggy - but she doesn't believe she has done anything wrong. The mum, who was branded 'sneaky', arrived at the bus stop and saw that another two women were already with prams so she decided to walk to the previous stop to make sure she would get on.
The woman who took to Mumsnet's Am I Being Unreasonable? forum and has sparked some controversy amongst users as some have branded her 'really selfish'. The anonymous poster explained: "Knowing that the driver wouldn’t let three of us on, I walked round the corner to the previous stop and got on there."
When the bus arrived at the stop she was originally at, only one mum was allowed on and the other was told they would need to wait half an hour for the next one. The 'queue jumper' mum then claims she was 'screamed at' and called a 'c**t' and one mother even 'tried to shove her off the bus'.
The mum then went on to explain that the driver phoned the police after the incident but she doesn't believe she has done anything wrong. The situation has divided opinions with another mother slamming the author's 'really selfish' decision while others also branded her 'sneaky'.
Another user questioned: 'Was your pushchair foldable? You acted knowing that you would be taking the place of someone who had been waiting longer than you.
"Technically you didn't break any rules, but you were selfish and sneaky in your actions. If your pushchair was foldable then you could have folded it, put it in the bag bit and held your child."
However, others sided with the mum as they argued she just made a 'smarter' choice to make sure she was able to get on the bus. One person responded: "In my opinion you just did the clever thing. Tough luck to the other one!".
A second added: "You were smarter than them. I'd have done the same."
A third person commented: It's not queue jumping to get on at an earlier stop. There is nothing which obligates you to board the bus at any particular stop".
