Mum will never return to Skegness caravan park after finding 'mouldy vomit' under bed

A mum-of-three says she will never return to a Skegness caravan park after finding a bowl of "mouldy vomit" under a bed. Louise Ward, 38, was staying at the Southview Caravan Park celebrating her mother-in-law's 60th birthday.

During her stay, from April 14 to April 17, one of Mrs Ward's daughters repeatedly complained about being able to smell sick. Mrs Ward then began to feel ill herself on the Sunday of her trip, initially putting it down to a "change in water", Lincolnshire Live reports.

But speaking about the vomit discovery, Mrs Ward said: "As we were doing the sweep through to check for socks that might have been lost under the bed, I thought 'what's the washing up bowl doing under the bed?'. I went to grab it and there was mouldy vomit in it. It was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen.

"No wonder she was complaining about the smell of sick. I was ill all that day and I had to take the day off work the following day."

After Mrs Ward made a complaint to Parkdean Resorts about the vomit, they offered her £50 off her next holiday. But she said: "Why would we book back if you leave your caravans like that? It was a lot of money to be sleeping above of a bowl of sick. It was a family event and it got ruined by that."

Julie Ward, whose 60th birthday the family were celebrating, was staying in another caravan with her other son and daughter-in-law. She admitted although their caravan wasn't as dirty, it was still below her standards.

She said: "There were cigarette ends all over the grass and the path. I wouldn't let kids play there. It doesn't hurt to get a dust pan and brush and sweep up the cigarette ends. I'd never go back. Never."

A spokesperson for Southview Holiday Park said: "We were made aware of this on the last day of Mrs Ward's stay and immediately apologised, carried out further cleaning, and offered a gesture of goodwill. We have flagged this isolated issue with our cleaning staff to make sure it doesn't happen again."
