A mum whose son was struggling to take his antibiotics after falling ill with Strep A has shared how she managed to get him to swallow the medicine.
It proved a mission just for Kaydee Gilliard to get the treatment for her three-year-old son Aaro Shelmerdine. Like many parents who have been struggling to get hold of commonly prescribed treatments such as penicillin and amoxicillin amid an unseasonably early rise in Strep A infections, she found herself driving around trying to find a pharmacy with the latter in stock.
But once she'd got some, getting the youngster to swallow it was a problem in itself, as he could still taste it even if mixed with a yoghurt or his usual drink.
