Mum who had to stop Asda shop to feed baby twins left in disbelief after returning to her trolley

A mum has praised the angel in disguise who scanned and paid for her shopping at Asda while she fed her her four-month-old twins in peace. Claire Armstrong, 32, was scanning her items when her hungry twins Phoebe and Jacob began to cry.

Flustered, Claire realised she might have to bottle feed them there and then. However a kind stranger stepped in and scanned the rest of Claire's shopping so that she could feed the twins in peace - even paying the 'near £100' bill and leaving before the 'gobsmacked' mum had a chance to thank them.

The special needs trampoline coach put out an appeal on Facebook to find the Good Samaritan and was later able to thank her personally via messenger, vowing to 'pay forward' her good deed.

Claire, from Colchester, Essex, said: "I was absolutely gobsmacked when the shop assistant told me that the lady had not only scanned and packed my shopping for me but also paid for it. I'm just so touched and myself and my family are extremely grateful to her for being so kind and generous.

"The bill came to nearly £100 so it was a massive help especially with the rising fuel costs at the moment. As the woman left before I could thank her I just felt the need to track her down so I could say thank you and luckily she saw the posts I put up and messaged me.

"She just said she didn't do it for a reward or recognition just as a little boost to help me from one mother to another and it gave her great joy to help me out. I've said that I will definitely try to pay it forward somehow when I'm in a position to do so.

"The shop assistants were all so helpful as well and offered to help me if I needed it. One of them that I happen to know also helped pack my shopping as well and she brought my trolley to me whilst I was feeding the twins in the café. I always find the staff in Asda are always so friendly and helpful so a massive thank you to them as well."

Claire's full post reads: "I NEED YOUR HELP!!! Just been to Asda in Colchester, Essex to get my shopping and decided it would be a clever idea to carry the babies in my new twin baby sling around the shop, note to self don't try that again in a hurry!!

"Anyway I need you all to help me find an angel in disguise, whilst I was trying to scan my shopping, the twins started crying and wanted a bottle so a very kind and generous woman told me to go feed them and she not only scanned and packed my shopping for me, she paid for it as well!!

"I am eternally grateful to her and still can't quite believe it!! However, she left before I could say thank you so I'm hoping by the power of Facebook I can find her to thank her personally. Also a huge thank you to the Asda staff who were really helpful too, so so grateful, you have no idea!!"

Asda have been contacted for comment.
