Mum who faked cancer and conned well-wishers out of £45k ordered to repay just £5

A mum who faked that she had been diagnosed with cancer and raised £45k has been ordered to repay just £5. Nicole Elkabbas, 44, raised money from well-wishers through a GoFundMe page.

She was only caught out in her scheme when her consultant oncologist discovered the fundraising page asking for money to pay for private ovarian cancer treatment. She had been given the all-clear by medics in the UK.

He spotted the image used on the page was snapped in Margate Hospital - not Spain as she claimed. It was actually taken after she had gall bladder surgery mere months prior, Birmingham Live reports.
