Mum uses bargains from B&M to turn baby changing unit into kitchen island for £33

Kitchen islands are ideal for creating more cupboard space and worktop surfaces, but they can be pricey.

A mum of three from Cardiff has managed to create her own kitchen island by transforming a baby changing unit using bargains from high street stores. In total, Nikki Dixon spent just £32.99 on creating the kitchen island, a bargain compared to the hundreds of pounds it would have cost her to buy one.

As reported by LatestDeals.co.uk, Nikki, 43, told money-saving Facebook group DIY On A Budget UK: "I had been looking for a kitchen island for quite some time and they were expensive or too large for the space I had in my kitchen. I wanted more worktop space in my kitchen so I priced up kitchen islands from a few local shops and online and they were hundreds of pounds.
