A mum has come under fire for stating that she did not want to tip a delivery driver after she was planning to make a £85 order with the takeaway. Domino's are well known for their huge choice of pizzas, sides and desserts for takeaway, and there are often plenty of discounts to take advantage of - but tipping a delivery driver is a divisive topic, especially when the restaurant already charges a delivery fee.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, the woman took to the internet explain she believed the 'employer should be paying a proper wage', but people were quick to point out that this isn't necessarily the case - according to job website Indeed, the average Domino's delivery driver earns £9.72 per hour, but this will vary depending on location and modes of delivery transport.

Posting on Mumsnet woman wrote: "Tomorrow I'm ordering pizza from Domino's. I usually leave it to our children but I'm doing this
"I will be ordering approx 85 quids worth of food for six of us including two toddlers. As we are paying online and in my opinion the bill is lager than the usual 50-ish after discounts - I will feel bad not tipping the man/woman.
"A quid is not right but then I'm thinking why should I as I pay two quid in delivery and the employer should be paying a proper wage.
"It will be easier not to tip as paying online but I don't want the delivery person giving me faces etc though that would make it easier for me later for not giving a tip.
"What do you think? But I'm almost 100% certain I won't. On the odd occasion we eat out we tip 10% but it does hurt."
People weren't happy with the mum, with people wondering why she was so hesitant to tip.
"If you can afford to spend £85 on pizza, you can probably afford a couple of extra pounds for a tip", one fumed.
Another wrote: "Yes you should. They earn f*** all."
Someone else explained they wouldn't tip as much as if they'd eaten out, but said: "Absolutely tip. We have never not tipped a food delivery. We don't tip as much as in a restaurant, but I'd be giving them at least a fiver."
"Don't be so mean", another quipped.
One Mumsnetter thought the onus should be on Domino's, however, commenting: "Domino's are now hassling you for tips, sending an email reminder, guilting you by naming the driver. I replied in feedback, that if you value your staff so much, then pay them a better wage.
"Domino's aren't cheap by any stretch, they now charge for delivery too. I've never tipped delivery drivers and places I've worked didn't allow drivers (or anyone) to accept tips. Really, why is everyone so keen to enable these big businesses to exploit their staff and us."
At the time of writing, 60% of Mumsnet users voted the mum was being unreasonable not to tip the delivery driver.
