If you’re still working from home, chances are you’ve turned part of your property into an office.
Lexie Lewis, 40, a mum of one from Kent who works in admin, was fed up with her work spilling into her bedroom.
But as she didn’t want to spend a fortune on a makeshift workspace, she decided to transform a tiny cupboard into a home office.
Lexie completed her DIY project without spending a single penny, by repurposing old Ikea units and decking planks.
She wanted to give herself a separate workspace as she had recently downsized into a two-bed house and had to try and squeeze everything into her bedroom.
Lexie told money-saving Facebook group DIY On A Budget UK : “I didn’t like having the computer and paperwork in there because it looked too cluttered.
"The cupboard is at the top of the stairs and seemed to be a good fit for everything.

"I used two standing Ikea Lack units that I already had and then cut lengths of decking planks that the previous tenants left in the garden to make the shelves.
“I put everything in and drilled a hole through the wall into the bedroom for the extension lead and plugged everything in.”
If you don’t already have furniture that you could upcycle, Lexie recommended checking out Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree and eBay for freebies or cheap goods.
Lexie says she “absolutely loves” her office now it’s done, and says her bedroom is much more spacious as a result.
“It was completely free to build as I had everything already,” she said.
“I'm really chuffed with it. It’s great to work in, I just have to mind my knees when I sit down.”
For more makeover inspiration, we've reported on how another DIY fan turned the empty space in her hallway into a trendy, open plan area for her to work in.
Charlotte Summers from Brighton, wanted to make the most of the space in her home, instead of putting an office in a spare room.
The hallway used to be dark and drab, with beige wooden flooring, but now looks like a completely new room following the renovation.
Charlotte said: "One of the main reasons I wanted to build our DIY shelving in the hallway was to have an open place to showcase our personal items in a stylish way.
"As this is also our office/working space, I wanted to keep the décor minimal to maintain a decluttered mind.
"I also wanted to fill it with things that keep me motivated, such as quotes and prints that mean a lot."
