Mum-to-be slammed as 'breathtakingly self-absorbed' for three-day baby shower plan

Ahead of a baby's arrival, friends and family of the mum-to-be will typically host a shower filled with games, food and gifts to celebrate the exciting occasion.

But one mum-to-be has been slammed for her elaborate plans to host a three-day baby shower, which all the guests were expected to pay for.

A friend who received an invite was so stunned by the elaborate affair, they took to Mumsnet to complain.

"WTF?!" she asked in shock, before listing all the expectations of the event.

"Travelling to another city; meal on day/night one, 'activities' on day two followed by another meal at another restaurant.

"Brunch on the third morning. Two nights in a pricey hotel. Plus expensive gift list. Plus themes to have to dress for such as 'pink night'."

The woman said she has no plans of going and is certain that she won't be missed anyway.

"The 'Mama' as she calls herself on the invites didn't even invite me to her daytime wedding, just the evening do - so I'm clearly not that good a friend!"

The woman share more information in the comments and revealed this pregnancy was her friend's third child.

They continued: "I'm not annoyed at such, just think it's breathtakingly self-absorbed.

"I am about the same 'level' of friendship with her that I have been before and after her wedding. Part of a group of friends that see each other regularly. Most were invited to the day reception for her wedding."

And adding insult to injury, they also confirmed the guests would be expected to foot the bill for the trip.

They continued: "Yep, we would be expected to cover the costs of 'Mama', including a pregnancy massage for her at a very expensive place on the activities day."

As you can imagine Mumsnet users were quick to share their thoughts on the elaborate weekend with many agreeing it was "ridiculous."

One person said: "Some people need to get a serious grip of their entitlement."

"What fresh hell is this? F*** no," said another.

A third commented: "Wow, a new layer of hell the baby showers that have gone the same way as hen parties."

"That's insane! And assuming that you would have had to pay for all the food and activities on top of everything else? Why do people do this to their friends?" wrote someone else.

But one person said: "I don't get why you would feel annoyed by it."

While others wondered how on earth the mum was going to have the energy to keep up with all the plans.
