Mum thought tiredness and night sweats were the menopause before life-changing news

In October 2019, Julie Robinson noticed she was feeling constantly exhausted, and a 'little off colour.' But at first, she put it down to her hectic job as a primary school teacher.

At the age of 52, she assumed she was just worn out, and after speaking to friends of a similar age, she suspected that symptoms of the menopause had started to kick in.

The mum, from Droylsden, was experiencing hot flushes and had previously been mildly anaemic so believed this was probably the case again. She decided to visit her GP during the half-term break as she didn't feel ill enough to take time off work.
