Mum swears by £1 kitchen product for removing stubborn food stains from white tops

Sometimes, when you're eating and you or your kids drop food down your front, it can be a really stressful five minutes trying to wonder how to get the stain out - especially if the top in question is white or the food is something bright in colour like spaghetti bolognese.

One stressed mum took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group to ask a question many parents will struggle with when their kids spill food on themselves.

She wrote: "Everyone - any advice on how to get tomato pasta sauce or tomato-based sauces out of children's clothes? I'm constantly having to Chuck away clothes, I've tried normal oxi stuff and soaking it in a bucket with detergent and also white vinegar but nothing is working!"

Other savvy parents who had also been there and done that had a simple solution - and it really works, costing from just £1.

One mum even suggested that the genius hack would work on curry stains, which are notoriously difficult to get out.

She wrote: "Washing up liquid neat on the stain before washing. This normally works for me and is also great on curry stains!"

Someone else seconded this idea, commenting: "I find near washing up liquid rubbed into the stain, then wash as normal works for me."

One mum said: "Original green fairy washing up liquid works for us. Cover stain, gently rub in, and let it sit a while before washing as usual - worked recently for pizza sauce on pale green Adidas hoodie."

Currently, Tesco has certain scents of Fairy washing-up liquid for just £1, meaning that not only is the hack great, it doesn't cost much either - and you likely already have it in.
