It seems as though the whole UK is currently obsessing over air fryers - and rightly so. They keep things cheap and cheerful in comparison to cooking meals in the oven, and the recipes usually look absolutely delicious - and this mum's version of a McDonald's McMuffin is no different. The best part? It costs just 89p per person when using ingredients from Aldi - so it really is a win-win.
If you're looking to make your money work harder for you, spending a fiver per person for a breakfast may not be an option, but that doesn't mean you have to compromise on taste by any means.
Jamie Salter created the budget fakeaway using her air fryer to help and it costs just £5.34 for six portions because she said that takeaways were becoming far too expensive.
She said: "The average McDonalds breakfast for six of us was costing around £30! I saw the pork patties in my local Aldi, so I thought I'd see if i could put together a fakeaway!
"The whole meal cost £4.89 at McDonald's but making the meal with Aldi products costs around 89p. It was a no-brainer to try!"
Jamie has also said that her whole family thinks that it tastes better than the original.
She's shared the recipe for her fakeaway so others can follow in her footsteps.
Jamie explained: "Pop the patties and hash browns in at the same time, I put mine in the air fryer for six-eight minutes. Depending on how long you have to cook and the method you use, the patties and hash browns can also be grilled/fried!
"I added an egg to a buttered mould, covered it with clingfilm and microwaved for one minute! Be careful with the egg as it can spit and pop.
"Then I just toasted the muffin and added butter before assembling the patty, cheese, and egg.
"Trust me, the family will scoff them down."
Jamie shared her fakeaway creation online to help inspire other families who may be struggling with food costs – and viewers were keen to try.
Someone wrote: "Had one of these this morning, and can confirm it tastes EXACTLY the same."
Jamie gives budgeting tips online, one of which is: "ALWAYS check Aldi or Lidl before any other supermarket.
"They do copies of most labelled brands and I was wary at first to try but they have lived up to all expectations."
