A woman has shared a cheap and easy hack for getting rid of dirt on your sofa - and it only costs 20p to do.
Sofas have the tendency to get dirty and worn out over time thanks to families constantly sitting, climbing and relaxing on them. Keeping them looking clean and smelling fresh can be a chore, but you don't have to fork out for expensive cleaning services as this hack is fast and cost-effective.
Because of this, it can be done as often as you need to banish stains and keep your sofa looking pristine for much longer.
TikTok user and mum @snehaandnora shared the hack with her 48.9 thousand followers on the video-sharing app, and says she "wishes she knew about it before".
She also described it as the "easiest way" to clean sofas, as she showed her viewers a step-by-step tutorial of how to do it.
In the video, Sneha pours boiling water from the kettle into a large bowl and pops a laundry pod in so that it melts and creates a soapy liquid.
Then, she soaks a kitchen towel in the mixture, and carefully stirs it around so that it's fully covered.
Taking a lid from a kitchen pan, she wraps the damp towel around it and secures it at the top so it's completely flat on one side, then she heads to the dirty sofa to work her magic.
She then gets started on rubbing the towel-covered lid all over the sofa, lifting any stubborn marks and making it look fresh. She also added that it "smells so good".
Once the sofa is dry, it looks as good as new. This simple trick is much cheaper than getting your sofa professionally cleaned, as a single laundry pod only works out at around 20p.
People flocked to the comments to thank the mum for sharing the cleaning method, with many saying they had tried it and it had worked well.
One said: "I tried. It's so effective for sofa covers you can’t machine wash."
And another suggested: "Wow, you can also add salt or vinegar & baking soda for more effect."
When asked if the trick would work elsewhere in the house, such as on the carpet, Sneha replied: "Yes you can I also clean carpet same way."
