A mum has told how the kind actions of a young boy towards her autistic son 'made the family's day'.
Rebecca Green, from Southport, was out with her son, Karne, last Friday (July 29) at around 1pm on Folkestone Road park when the seven-year-old wandered over to three boys who were in the park. Much to the surprise of the 42-year-old mum, one of the boys, Alistair, stopped and spoke to Karne.
Not only did the boy chat to Karne, who is non verbal, but he also gave him a high five, leaving Rebecca touched by how nice the 10-year-old was. She told the ECHO nothing like that had never happened before.

She said: "Karne finished on the roundabout in the park and Alistair came over and introduced himself. He must have realised he was non-verbal but he was still so nice. People just ignore him because he doesn't talk and because of the noises he makes.
"I said to Alistair thank you because no one has ever really done anything like that. It's just nice for him to be acknowledged. He's just the same as any boy he just can't talk so he can't verbalise what he's thinking."
Rebecca took to Facebook to tell people how much the interaction meant to her, with her posting in a number of local Facebook groups before Alistair's mum commented on one of the posts. She said: "Yes it was him, thank you for sharing this message."
Karne's dad also commented. He said: "I’m the little man’s daddy and I just want to add a big thank you to your kind son, he has made our day. It’s the little things that mean the most."
Rebecca, who works at Southport Hospital, added: "I guess in that moment when Alistair approached my son I felt warm inside, proud of him for acknowledging my son and proud of my son for returning his high five and then emotional witnessing such a special moment in our lives."
