The Cadbury Creme Egg is a firm favourite among chocolate lovers. Fans of the Easter treat will likely have already bagged themselves a few after they hit the shops for their annual appearance in recent weeks.
But one mum was left gobsmacked after she discovered the shocking truth about the chocolate snack. After she found out just how much sugar is in one of the fondant-filled eggs, she decided to share her findings as a warning to other parents.
According to the Cadbury website, each 40g Creme Egg contains 177kcal, 6.1g of fat, 3.7g saturates, 0.06g salt and a staggering 26.5g of sugar.

The mum measured out the amount of sugar contained in just one egg - and her results left some people questioning their choices, Mirror Online reports. She shared a photo of a Cadbury Creme Egg alongside the hefty amount of sugar the sweet treat contains, with a 2p coin added for scale.
The image left some people dubious, with one writing: "Couldn't fit that much sugar in the egg. This is a lie."
However, the Mirror's own test found that there really is a whopping amount of sugar in a single Creme Egg. The results are eye-opening, with the pile of sugar pictured definitely bigger than the egg itself.
NHS guidelines say adults should have no more than 30g of free sugars a day, which is about seven sugar cubes. For children aged seven to 10 the number drops to 24g, and for four to six-year-olds, it's recommended not to exceed 19g.
That means one Creme Egg exceeds the daily recommended intake of sugar for those under the age of 11 - and even for adults, it leaves you with less than 4g left for the rest of the day.
Some people have been put off by the findings with one writing: "Wowsers! That’s A LOT of sugar. I love a creme egg but this is shocking". A second said: "F**k off there's 26 g of sugar in a creme egg..."
But others had no time for it, as one argued: "I don't even care, I'm still gonna eat a multipack in one sitting on more than one occasion. Creme eggs are too good to give a s***."
It comes after sandwich chain Subway launched a product that left fans divided. The lunch spot is known for its wide variety of fillings that you can choose from, and for a limited time only they've added Creme Eggs subs to their menu.
It is extremely exclusive however and is only available for one day in selected stores. The melt will be available today (April 7), to just 500 customers - and it’s completely free.
