An enterprising mum has shared a brilliant and cost-effective way of feeding her young son and keeping him cool and entertained during the heatwave. Sally Scott spent just 95p on her 14-month-old Joseph during the blistering temperatures on Monday by taking little Joseph to Ikea.
The Ikea branch she went to in Ashton, Manchester, had cooling air-conditioning, was selling children's meals for 95p (which included jelly, soft drink and fruit along with the hot meal) and there was a Jungle Quest challenge.
The mum-of-two, from Chorlton, also mum to five-year-old Zoe, told the Manchester Evening News: "I shared it because there aren't many low cost places to take children that are air conditioned and not crowded. The 95p children's meal deal is a bargain."
Sharing a post in the Happy Days Out Facebook group, showing toddler Joseph having a whale of a time in the Tameside store, Sally said: "Looking for a cheap air conditioned place to take the kids?? Ikea! They are doing kids meals for 95p including a drink and piece of fruit throughout summer, portions are generous. Also noticed a 'jungle quest' activity where you have to spot cuddly toy animals round the store (this was in the Ashton branch) and you get a free ice cream of you find them all."
Parents loved the idea, with one saying: "Thank you! Think I'll head there tomorrow." Another said simply, "Brilliant."
