A 41-year-old mum-of-two died after a weight loss operation, the opening of an inquest has heard. The hearing was told that Natasha Biddulph passed away in hospital.
A full hearing will take place to determine whether the gastric band surgery "caused or contributed" to her death. The opening hearing heard that it is believed Natasha, 41, suffered multiple organ failure as well as sepsis and a chest infection.
Natasha, of George Treglown Grove, in Bucknall, Staffordshire, died at the Royal Stoke University Hospital on Wednesday, June, 15, reports StokeonTrentLive. Since then, her family have been raising money via a fundraising appeal so they can say a 'proper goodbye' to the 'wonderful' mum.
Paying tribute to her, Natasha's husband wrote: "Natasha was a wonderful and caring person with a fun colourful personality and hair to match. Natasha was a fantastic mother to our children, she'd spend days and nights planning day trips and mini breaks for them, ensuring life was adventure for them with many fond memories. She had a wicked sense of humour and never afraid to let you know what she thought."
Speaking at the inquest opening, Emma Serrano, area coroner for Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire, said: “The inquest will look at whether gastric bypass surgery caused or contributed to the death. There’s reason to suspect it was unnatural.”
The inquest will resume in three months. Support the GoFundMe appeal here. More than £1,500 has been raised towards the £10,000 target so far.
