Mum of missing former Bath rugby player Levi Davis flies to Spain to help in search

The mother of missing Levi Davis, a former Bath rugby player, will be heading to Spain to help in the search of her missing son who she has described as 'vulnerable'. Levi, who many will recognise from his appearance on Celebrity X Factor with fellow rugby players Ben Foden and Thom Evans, has been missing since October 29.

He was last seen leaving the Old Irish Pub in Barcelona, which has been confirmed by CCTV footage, the Mirror reports. But family and friends have not heard from him since and are growing increasingly concerned.

His mother, Julie Davis, has made an emotional plea on GMB begging him to get in touch. She has since said she will now fly to Spain to help in the search for him.

She said: “I can’t begin to understand how you’re feeling but just know that I do love you and our family loves you and we just want you home."

Levi’s sports agent and friend Tom Varnell says that the family has had a “terrible time” coping with his disappearance. Speaking to the Mirror he said: ““It’s been an awful time. It’s been a horrible few days.

"Julie should be going out there in the next 24 hours. I spoke to the family and they know Levi had his issues and that’s what makes it more frightening.

“The longer this goes on, the more real and the darker it gets because you’re like, ‘where the hell has he gone for 12 days?!’

“To not speak to anybody, any close friends, any family, go on any social media platform, it doesn’t make any sense now.

“Someone who’s feeling down in the dumps and depressed is out there on his own.”

His family have said his recent coming-out could have affected his mental health. Levi, who is 24, has confirmed his bisexulaity and although his family say they do not know of anyone reacting negatively to his news, they are worried the world of rugby might not have been accommodating.

Levi’s sister Candeece Balfour said that her brother coming out "had to have played a role in his mental health", as the rugby environment was not the most "accommodating".

She said: "I can imagine it had to have played a role in his mental health. He plays rugby, and I would say he wasn't in the most accommodating area for the type of thing to come out.

"But from what I was able to observe, nobody had anything to say or had any comments about it. Everyone was really supportive about it."

A CCTV clip obtained by the Mirror showed the 24-year-old winger exiting the Old Irish Pub on the popular Spanish street Rambla dels Caputxins on that same day, at 10.05pm.

In the video, Levi can be seen carrying a small black rucksack, while wearing a white short-sleeved t-shirt, black trousers, and black and white trainers.

The athlete was last heard from over a week ago, after he travelled to Ibiza with a friend. But he then left on a boat to Barcelona by himself on October 29,

Spanish police - Mossos d'Esquadra had previously said they were waiting for the missing persons report to be transferred over to them by UK Police.
