A woman has revealed how she was able to pull off an impressive weight loss while still sipping on wine and munching crisps.
Emma Hamshaw says she was still able to enjoy her favourite treats while also dropping two stone in six months. She has now set up her own weight loss group to help others shed the pounds without sacrifice.
NorfolkLive reports that Emma, from Attleborough in the English county, had struggled for years with her weight after having her fourth child. But she was inspired to join a local Slimming World group after growing increasingly unhappy with her body.
Emma said: "I felt embarrassed, judged, sad and even alone and I knew I needed some help. It was nerve wrecking going to a group but joining my local Slimming World group but as soon as I walked in I was welcomed.
"I got so much support and immediately felt it was a safe space. Each week in group, members share their struggles and triumphs, exchange ideas, and motivate each other to reach their goals and I feel like I have made lasting changes in my life."
She continued: "With a few changes I have still been able to eat my favourites like spaghetti bolognese, roast dinner and I love a jacket potato too. I still enjoy my glass of wine or a packet of crisps but I've learnt to fit them in".
With the support of her group and consultant, Emma has lost two stone in six months and is excited to be taking on a new challenge. She added that Slimming World members are encouraged to develop a healthy relationship with food, promoting balance and moderation.
The programme, she said, was about adopting a lifestyle that will helps to promote a healthy weight in the long run. However, it also includes a unique exercise programme to encourage weight-shedders to become more active at their pace while doing things they love.
She has been so inspired by her own fitness journey that she has launched her own group to help others become happier and more confident versions of themselves.
Emma added: "The journey was not always easy, but the benefits of leading a healthier lifestyle have been more than worth it. Not only do I feel more confident in my appearance, but I also have more energy to tackle the day's challenges.
"I can't wait to support other people to achieve their dream weight. I want to be there with them, supporting them through the highs and low – laughing with them and celebrating every success along the way."
