A woman has been shot dead as she tried to stop a man leaving her home, police have confirmed.

Mother-of-five Sandra Boyd is thought to have trying to disarm a man who Irish police believe was known to her.

She was blasted in the chest with a handgun as she left her family home in Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday night.
