A mum who looked twice her age has lost over 130lbs in less than a year and she now looks 20 years younger. Kimberly Nestorick, 26, tipped the scales at over 300lbs (21st) and was struggling to lose weight for a number of years.
She decided to slim down after taking her daughter, four-year-old Everly Rose, on a family day out in July last year and being left ‘mortified’ by her size in the pictures. Kimberly's weight has ‘always been a battle’ and in previous attempts, she would only manage to lose about 50lbs and would always gain it back.
She was sick of feeling insecure and unhappy so she put everything into changing for the better. Since the summer of 2021, Kimberly has lost over 130lbs (9st 4lbs) with a combination of healthy food habits and exercising six days a week.
Once she noticed a real change in her body she began posting inspiring videos about the good and bad sides of her weight loss. The online reaction has been overwhelming in the best way for Kimberly - people online thought that she was at least 40 years old in her before pictures and dubbed her journey as ‘aging backwards’.
To lose weight, Kimberly ditched her fast food habit first - as she was ordering food to her house almost every single night. She then opted for the healthier versions of meals she loved to make sure she was always in a calorie deficit.
Exercise was difficult for single mum Kimberly as she struggled to find time for herself, so she upped her steps by going for twice-daily walks with her daughter. She also asked her mum to babysit three nights a week so she could go to the gym.
Kimberly now goes to the gym six times a week and has no plans to stop her transformation. Kimberly, who is a Twitch Content Creator from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania said her weight loss has made her feel more confident than ever before.
She said: “After having Everly and then the COVID lockdowns, I gained over 100lbs and didn't even notice how big I was. I was an emotional eater and I would tend to turn to food when I was stressed or upset.
“After seeing myself in those pictures I knew I needed to get healthy - for myself and for my daughter. I feel healthier and happier. I recently visited a ride in an amusement park that just last year I was too big to ride - it was so embarrassing.
"Now I can go on rides and participate in things with my daughter that I never could have before.” She said that her dating life has also improved massively, as men now give her positive attention and show interest more than they ever did before.
Kimberly wanted to share her journey on TikTok but was too embarrassed to show herself to the world when she was at her biggest. She never imagined that two million people would see her video, let alone be so kind and encouraging.
She said: “For a long time, I had given up on the idea that I would ever be at a healthy weight but here I am now, 130lbs lighter and feeling better than ever before. The response is what keeps me motivated to continue on with my health journey.
"I want people to know that if I can do this, they can too. You won’t see changes overnight, or even for a long time, but with consistency, you will wake up one day and be a completely different, better version of yourself.
“If I could finally do this for myself after struggling my entire life, then I know anyone can.”
Kimberly plans to lose another 40-50lbs (2-3st) and eventually get excess skin removal surgery but emphasised that she doesn’t want to focus too much on the future. She said: “I got to this point by focusing on the day ahead of me and taking each day as they come so I want to maintain that.”
