Mum left in tears as kids ruin newly decorated house by smearing black paint everywhere

A mum was left in tears after discovering her two "mischievous" children had completely wrecked their newly decorated bungalow after cracking open a pot of black B&Q paint.

Kerry Jones and her partner Callum Sheriff Johnson have spent more than £4,000 decorating their home after moving in back in October, and were therefore dismayed to see the damage inflicted by their daughters' creative 'art project'.

On the morning in question, Kerry was awoken by the sound of Callum yelling "get up", before quickly realising that little Lacie-Rae, four, and Eliza-Skye, two, had "ruined the whole house" with their artistic endeavours.

Footage taken by the 'gobsmacked' 22-year-old mum shows black footprints leading from the corridor into the living room where the walls are covered with tiny handprints.

Kerry, from Clayton, Greater Manchester, believes the girls managed to open a tub of black GoodHome Walls & Ceilings paint from B&Q, which had been stored in the spare room, while their parents were still sleeping.

They then smeared the paint all over the coffee table and 'brand new' £75 rug, while leaving their painty fingerprints over both couches, leaving stubborn stains.

In the video, Lacie-Rae and Eliza-Skye are also seen to be covered in black paint, looking on innocently as Callum, 23, questioned them about what exactly they were going to do about all the mess.

Taking to Facebook, the full-time-mum jokingly offered to give her children away, as they 'ruin everything and think the house is an art gallery', having now destroyed her couch, carpet, rug, and four-month-old kitchen lino.

She and Callum are particularly worried about their £500 corner sofa, which they fear is now damaged beyond repair.

Facebook users have been left greatly amused by the little girls' antics, with the pair looking 'like butter wouldn't melt', but have also sympathised with Kerry's predicament, admitting that the mess was the 'worst they've seen'.

Kerry said: "I didn't even say anything. My mouth was just wide open with tears running down my face. I was just so shocked.

"I thought 'I've got to record this before I lose my s**t'. Callum was going mad. He was just saying 'look at the house', but the girls were staring at us to tell us they'd done nothing wrong.

"They must have done it for about an hour. My oldest was busy making handprints and my youngest was busy destroying the whole house. Clearly they'd planned something in their bedroom.

"The whole hallway was full of paint and footprints, the brand new rug I was given by my uncle was destroyed and all my throws are ruined. I just want to cry about it".

She continued: "You can see the handprints on the couches and its blackness from underneath it. If we can't get it off, throws aren't going to cover it.

"My daughter was doing hand painting in school, so she clocked on and thought she could do the wall. I couldn't believe she was able to open the paint. I was gobsmacked.

"I was furious but they're children and they don't understand so you can't go mad at them. My children are my life, so I wouldn't scream and go mad at them. I held it all in.

"Before I posted the video on Facebook, I sat on my couch and I cried for about 10 minutes, then realised my tears aren't going to clean this up.

"Once we'd got the girls clean, we watched the videos back and cried with laughter and the girls' faces in it. Lacie-Rae looked like she was saying 'this is just our artwork, mum'".

An hour after being sent to their bedrooms, Lacie-Rae hugged her mum and apologised, while toddler Eliza-Skye still doesn't quite grasp where she went wrong.

Despite her initial fury, Kerry now plans to make a collage of family handprints to display on their restored brown living room wall so they can "remember the moment".

A B&Q spokesperson has given the following statement: "Oh dear - it definitely looks like Ms. Jones could use some help in reversing her surprise makeover. We’d like to offer her a gift card to help get her living room back to its former glory".
