Mum 'had a feeling' baby girl was going to be born on Christmas Day

A mum said she "had a feeling" her baby was going to be born on Christmas Day.

Coryn Platt and Shaun Baxter from New Brighton's baby was due on Thursday, December 22. However, the little girl wanted a bit more time and made her entrance into the world in the early hours of Christmas Day at Arrowe Park Hospital, Wirral.

The new parents have not decided on a first name for baby Baxter and this is their first child. Baby Baxter weighed 7 lbs and 3 oz when she was born.

Coryn, 34, said it was a difficult labour, which lasted 26 hours and ended in a c-section but was "worth it".

Speaking to the ECHO, she said: "I thought she would come on Christmas Day. She was due on the 22nd, but I had a feeling she would come on Christmas Day. It was long, drawn-out and hard work and ended up in a c-section, but everyone was great."

Shaun, 32, said the couple were "overjoyed" and Coryn added their families were delighted too.

Coryn said: "We are very happy and we have very happy families as well, but a very different Christmas. I think she will end up with a half birthday half-way through the year so she doesn't miss out."

Shaun added this was "so she doesn't get overshadowed by Christmas."

As Coryn had a c-section, it was Shaun who held their baby girl for the first time. Coryn said "It was nice because Shaun got her first so it was nice seeing Shaun with her."

The 32-year-old dad also said it was still sinking in and due to the length of labour it felt like their baby girl was "never going to arrive." The overjoyed parents hope to be able to go home in the next few days with the baby.

Arrowe Park Hospital also welcomed another two babies on Christmas Day morning, including a little boy at 3.20am and another baby boy later on in the morning.

Isla Findlay from Runcorn was the first Christmas Day 2022 baby born at Whiston Hospital. She weighed 8lbs and was born at 0:36am (Whiston Hospital)

Meanwhile the first arrival at Whiston hospital was little Isla Clementine Findlay, who was born weighing 8lbs at 0:36am to parents Laura and Robert, from Runcorn and joins big sister Isabella and brother George.
