Parents in Edinburgh have welcomed the best Christmas present they could hope for - a daughter.
The first baby born on Christmas Day in the capital - and potentially the country - arrived at 2.44am. Baby Selena was born to parents Nadejda Bulgaru, 25, and Stefan Dobroviceanu, 31 at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
The new addition to the family was born weighing 7lbs 4oz, according to staff at the hospital.

Elsewhere in Scotland, Parents Elizabeth and Alex, both from Kirkcaldy, shared the exciting moment with staff in Fife as they posed with Alexandru after becoming proud parents on a day they'll never forget.
Taking to Facebook, NHS Fife said: "Fife”s first Christmas Day Baby. Alexandru Junior Archie Bereczki was born @ 0158am this morning, weighing in at 4190g, 9Ib 3oz. Pictured with his proud parents.
