Mum gobsmacked after neighbour takes photos of her home and posts them on Instagram

A mum has called out her "cheeky" neighbour for taking photos of her garden and passing it off as her own on Instagram.

The woman was surprised to discover that her neighbour, who is a "minor actress", had uploaded a photo of her garden without permission, claiming it was her own.

She took to parenting forum Mumsnet to ask for advice on whether it was "unreasonable" to call out the "cheeky" behaviour.

She wrote: "My next door neighbour posted a photo on Instagram of the front garden of my cottage, including the front porch, with the caption that she had spent 6months doing up this thatched cottage.

"She is a minor actress and next door where she lives (it’s actually the newest of three homes that she has) is a mess since she is doing it up but … there is not one thing in her photo that is her cottage or garden. It is all mine.

"AIBU (am I being unreasonable) to think this is really cheeky? And is it worth saying anything?

"My husband says not to fall out with her but I just think it’s really cheeky. What do you all think?"

Before long, the post had received dozens of replies from fellow Mumsnet users. Many were in agreement that the neighbour's behaviour was "weird".

One suggested: "Cheeky! I'd ask a friend to comment that it's not hers. That's just weird, why put up anything at all!"

A second wrote: "I'd be blunt and comment that it's not her house it's YOURS! Cheeky sod claiming yours as her own, just trying to big herself up because she's a minor actress."

"I would not hesitate in commenting on the post, thats outrageous," echoed a third.

"I’d comment and ask what the neighbours are like," posted a fourth.

Meanwhile, a fifth simply said: "That is absolutely MAD! Omg"

However, others suggested that the woman take a more tactful approach. One posted: "As funny as some of these suggestions are, it's your neighbour and public humiliation never goes down well. And you have to live there."

A second agreed: "I’d not publicly embarrass her as folks are urging you to. But I would say something privately, just say you’re sure she’s used the wrong photo but please can you remove the pics of your home from her insta to protect your privacy."
