A frustrated mum says she feels like a 'fool' after her husband told her to do all the housework on her day off. She has said she has been feeling unhappy with her marriage for some time.
The mum also believes her husband is 'self-centered and lazy'. Now, she has been left angry after her husband told her to do the household chores on her day off.
The Echo reports the mum took to Mumsnet for some advice. She titled her post 'Husband has decided that I can do all the housework'.
She wrote: "In disbelief and need to have a little rant. I've been having doubts for some while about whether to end my marriage or not.
"It's been hard work, too hard! Long story but I find him very self-centred and lazy and it appears to be getting worse. He's not a very good husband or father and to be honest, I'm not even sure why I'm still with him! I'm half way out the door.
"Tonight he tells me that he's thought about the housework/shopping/washing up etc and he states that seeing as he works more than me (I work four days and he works five), on the fifth day of him working I should do all the housework, so on the two days off nothing will need doing.
"We have a three-year-old DD (dear daughter) who I like to take to soft play and lunch on my day off, so it's not like a day off to myself. I already do 90% of the housework. It's me who makes sure all the bills are paid and holidays, birthdays and Christmas are sorted. Left here feeling like an absolute fool and ready to end this marriage for good."
The woman's post was met with a flurry of comments from fellow Mumsnet users, who offered support. One said: "Tell him he can pay for a cleaner once a week."
Someone else added: "You're not at home with free time, you're looking after your young child! I am also part-time with a toddler at home when I'm not at work and the house is generally worse on that day because I'm running around after them. You are not overreacting."
Another person wrote: "So because you work a mere one day less, you have to pick up all the rest of it? How does that even make sense? Tell him to come up with a better plan. You are doing a lot just by taking your three-year-old out, never mind having to pick up the housework on top of that."
One Mumsnet user said: "What, no-one's going to need to do any housework on your DH's (dear husband) day off? Does he think magic fairies will wash the dishes after his meals, and do anything else that needs doing on his days off?"
