Mum flabbergasted as Uber Eats driver lets himself into her house to deliver food

Delivery services like Uber Eats have made many people's lives a lot easier as they can order food to their front door at the touch of a button.

But one mum claims her recent order went one step further - as the delivery driver let himself into her home to drop the items off.

The parent, named Aimee, took to TikTok to share her shock after an Uber Eats driver allegedly walked right into her home to deliver her Morrisons order.

In a post on the video-sharing platform, under the username @thissinglemamaofficial, Aimee recounted the tale, urging Uber Eats to have a "talk" with some of their employees.

She said: "Uber Eats need to have a talk with some of their delivery drivers.

"So we ordered a few bits today on the app from Morrisons, just needed a few bits. Anyway...

"Obviously, they give you updates on the app, so I knew he was you know, arriving when I was upstairs I saw on the app that he had arrived.

"Came down the stairs and as I was coming down the stairs, he let himself into my house. Didn't ring the doorbell, didn't knock on the door. He just opened the door and started walking into the house.

"Now I didn't have the door locked because my dad had just brought Harper home from school. But I'll be bloody locking it all the time from now on."

The mum added: "Like what are you doing just walking into my house? And I even said to him 'what are you doing?' and he was like 'oh your delivery' and I was like, yeah but ring the doorbell."

Aimee's video has since been viewed over 297,000 times, garnering over 21,000 likes and hundreds of comments - including one from the mum herself saying she was glad her dad had been in the house at the time and she is reporting the incident.

One person replied: "Maybe he thought it was a porch? We've had that happen with Amazon before. Driver was mortified."

Another said: "Keep your door locked always babe."

A third wrote: "I had a Hermes driver let herself into my garden and drop the parcel in my open patio door. Never tried the front door, I was terrified."

Someone else proclaimed: "That's shocking."

An Uber spokesperson said: "What has been described is totally unacceptable and we are currently investigating what happened. Couriers who use the Uber Eats app are required to follow our Community Guidelines and any courier found to be in breach of these guidelines risks losing access to the app."
