Mum branded 'selfish' for jumping bus queue by walking back to the stop before

A mum has divided opinion after confessing to jumping a heaving bus queue with her child and buggy by strolling back to the previous stop.

The woman clearly thought she was using her initiative by ensuring there would be space for her and her offspring. But some fellow passengers were raging as she was yelled at and nearly 'shoved off' the vehicle.

The Mirror reports how, after picking up her child from the minder, she arrived at the bus stop and realised there were already two mums with buggies waiting there.

She explained on Mumsnet's Am I Being Unreasonable? forum: "Knowing that the driver wouldn’t let three of us on, I walked round the corner to the previous stop and got on there."

When the bus arrived at the original stop, sure enough only one mum was allowed on, and the other told to wait for 30 minutes for the next one. The mum then claims she was "screamed at" and called a "c***" and "queue jumper" and one mum even "tried to shove [her] off the bus".

The mum even claims the police turned up after being called by the driver – but she doesn't think she did anything wrong. The situation has divided people in the comments, with one mum branding her "really selfish", and others calling her "sneaky".

Another forum user said: "Was your pushchair foldable? You acted knowing that you would be taking the place of someone who had been waiting longer than you.

"Technically you didn't break any rules, but you were selfish and sneaky in your actions. If your pushchair was foldable then you could have folded it, put it in the bag bit and held your child."

However, others think the mum did what she had to to make sure she was able to get on the bus. One person commented: "In my opinion you just did the clever thing. Tough luck to the other one!".

A second added: "You were smarter than them. I'd have done the same."

"It's not queue jumping to get on at an earlier stop. There is nothing which obligates you to board the bus at any particular stop," said a third.
