A mum has been left bedridden for six years after catching what she though was a common cold from her daughter. But Amy Ironside Wood contracted Glandular fever from baby Willow which led to an "autoimmune cascade" in her body, forcing her to lie down for 22 hours a day.
To add to Amy's chronic fatigue, the ligaments holding her skull to her spine have been severely weakened and she now has to wear a neck brace whenever she stands up for extended periods of time. Six years after falling ill, Amy said she hasn't seen any improvement.
"I literally went overnight from going to the gym three times a week to struggling to get out of bed," Amy explained.
