Mum and kids devastated after missing dog rescued - then stolen AGAIN two hours later

A mum and kids are devastated after their missing dog was rescued then stolen again from a vets two hours later.

11-month-old Reggie was dognapped during a break-in at his owner's home three months ago.

He was found in woods on Saturday and handed in to be checked over.

Reggie's thrilled owner Shantelle Owens was set to be reunited with him.

But just two hours later the Cane Corso was stolen by a man who brazenly walked into the surgery.

The dognapper then drove off with him in a car.

Cops are investigating the double thefts.

Mum-of-four Shantelle, 25, said: "We are all devastated, especially my eldest children who are six and four.

"They keep asking where Reggie is and why he's not here.

"I don't understand why anyone would do this.

"Apparently someone walked into the vets through a side door, took Reggie and barged his way out getting quite aggressive with people."

Pregnant Shantelle, who is expecting another child, is being treated for stress.

She added: "It's heartbreaking and I'm just praying Reggie is safe. He's such a loving, family dog.

"If anyone has seen him or knows where he is please let us know.

Reggie is the happiest loving dog I've ever had. He's not just a dog, he's our baby.

"He's gonna be petrified.

"So we beg anyone with any information to get him home to his family."

Reggie was first stolen on 14 February this year - Valentine's Day from the ransacked house in Exeter, Devon.

He was found 48 miles - and an hour's drive - away in Saltash, Cornwall.

There is no CCTV at the vets, it's understood.

Lisa Loops, who runs Muddy Paws Crime - which helps owners be reunited with their pets - said: "Reggie's owner had a call to say he had been found and handed into a vet in Saltash.

"He was scanned and the owner was called.

"Within two hours of the owner being called, Reggie was then stolen from the vets.

"Unbelievable."

She added: "They had no CCTV at all on the premises.

"The thief was seen by staff but apparently became aggressive."

"You literally could not make this up."

Devon and Cornwall Police have been approached for comment.
