Multiple last-gasp Liverpool transfer 'attempts' emerge after Jurgen Klopp U-turn

Jurgen Klopp has refused to close the door on deadline day activity, with Liverpool fans desperate for some last-minute transfers.

The Reds made it back-to-back Premier League wins on Wednesday after Fabio Carvalho scored a 98th minute winner against Newcastle United. Klopp’s side, who failed to win their first three league games, found themselves 1-0 down to the Magpies before Roberto Firmino equalised and Caravlho scored a dramatic winner.

But it wasn’t all positive news with Jordan Henderson becoming the latest midfielder to pick up an injury. The Liverpool skipper hobbled off during the second half with what could be a significant hamstring issue.

“We have another problem with Hendo. He left after feeling his hamstring, that is obviously not helpful,” Klopp told BT Sport. Henderson joins a long list of injury issues at Anfield, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones all nursing knocks.

The Kop boss had been adamant that there would be no further transfer business, but last week accepted the injury issues had forced his hand. “I know we have had this discussion since it all started and I am the one who said we don’t need a midfielder and you were all right and I was wrong,” he conceded.

“That’s the situation. There is really nothing more to say about it. We are looking for it, and if it is the right player we need him and if it is not the right player we don’t need him.”

And reports have now suggested that Liverpool have made enquiries to sign Manu Kone from Borussia Monchengladbach and Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig. Despite their injury concerns, it is unlikely there will be a dramatic shift in transfer focus which predominantly sees them buying players who can develop on Merseyside.

Kone fits that bill aged just 21 and Media Foot claims the Premier League giants have ‘taken information’ on the midfielder, ahead of a potential deadline day move. Newcastle are also said to be interested in the player having signed for Gladbach from Toulouse last summer.

Konrad Laimer is another name in the frame and attempts to sign the 25-year-old are said to be significantly more advanced. Sky Sports Germany via Sport Witness, report that Liverpool have tried to sign Laimer in the last few days.

However, Leipzig are adamant they will not sell the player this summer, meaning it is more likely he’ll be on the move next year. Despite Klopp suggesting a transfer could be difficult, reports have now stated that the Reds are set to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo on loan.

On a possible transfer, he added: “I don’t think so. But as long as there’s time we should not close the door completely." And Melo could be the man for Liverpool, with claims that the Brazilian will undergo a medical on Thursday.
