Bundobust, the Indian street food restaurant with two branches in the city, has been honoured in this year’s Top Fifty Hospitality Power List. Founders Mayur Patel and Marko Husak were given the special achievement award at this year’s Northern Restaurant and Bar show.
Judges of the awards, which are put together by hospitality legal firm Kuits, said that ‘Bundobust's combination of delicious food, creative dishes, affordable prices, friendly service, and unique atmosphere make it a standout restaurant that people love to visit again and again. It has established itself as a popular and well-respected player in the competitive restaurant industry’.

Also up for special awards were Matthew Farrell and John Ennis of the Graffiti Spirit Group, and Andy Haygarth and Matt Robson of gaming bar NQ64. A host of new operators have also been added to the list this year.
Among them are A Very Inc, the company behind Ramona and the soon-to-open Diecast, Adam Reid at The French, Climat, Fat Hippo, Higher Ground, Madre, Market Operations, Moor Hall, Northcote, The Old Stamp House, and The Tommy Banks Group.
Chris Brazier, group event director for Northern Restaurant & Bar, said: “This year's list has revealed a steady churn of operators, with an influx of new entrants. While challenges remain for industry, it's great to see the tone changing from one of resilience and survival to one of ambition and opportunity for some operators. There are new Gastropubs, hotels, Michelin starred restaurants, casual dining operators and experiential leisure sites to be congratulated and watched now and in the future.
“Many operators are saying that the start to the year has been above expectations in the face of evolving consumer behaviour, but also down to tenacity and talent of Northern Hospitality operators. Let us all hope that this continues, and we see an exciting period of launches, expansion, and innovation throughout 2023.”
