A pensioner who died after being trampled in the street by a runaway cow has been remembered as a "much-loved" grandfather.
Huw Evans, 75, was "attacked" by a cow that escaped from a livestock market in Carmarthenshire at about 10.15am November 19, Dyfed-Powys Police said.
Mr Evans, from Whitland, was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff after being injured, but he died six days later.
His family have paid tribute to Huw saying he was "loved by many".
In a statement, his family said: “Huw was a loved dad, dadcu, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
"We would like to thank the community for their support and well wishes while Huw was in hospital and since his passing.
"We now know how much he will be missed.”
Speaking shortly after the attack, a Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said the cow had come across the elderly man in North Road, where it had attacked and trampled him.
Following this, the cow went onto the rail track in the area. Trains had to be put on stop as a result, to prevent danger to passengers.
Eventually, the cow made its way to a field, where it was dispatched with the consent of its owner after an attempt to contain it failed.
Dyfed-Powys Police said the force and the Health and Safety Executive watchdog are investigating the incident.

"Unfortunately all attempts failed and, due to the danger posed by the animal, it was humanely dispatched with the consent of the owner."
