Much-loved BBC show set to make unexpected return this year after sudden cancellation

A popular BBC cooking and travel show is set to return to our television screens later this year after a very sudden cancellation, which left fans devastated at the time.

Fans of Stanley Tucci 's Searching for Italy can rejoice as reports say that it could be returning this year.

Searching for Italy was cancelled back in December last year (2022) by CNN, but the 62-year-old Devil Wears Prada actor has given fans fresh hope that it might be coming back.

The actor has now spoken out, with him revealing that he's in talks with "different companies" amid finding a new home for his hit TV series.

With him adding that he feels "pretty confident" about placing the show somewhere new soon.

He concluded his chat with Variety when he said: “We’ll find out in a few weeks.”

Receiving a whopping seven Emmy nominations, the popular show even won outstanding hosted nonfiction series in 2021 and 2022.

The hit series sees actor and foodie Stanley travel across Italy to discover the secrets and delights of the country’s regional cuisines.

When the series got cancelled by CNN last year, Stanley appeared on The Tonight Show where he addressed the axing.

Speaking candidly and hinting at potentially finding a new home, he said: "Unfortunately, CNN has canceled all of their original programming, so hopefully we’ll end up on another streamer, network, we don’t know."

The Hollywood icon is known for his passion for food and cooking, with him posting many food and drink related posts on social media.

In 2014 he released a cookbook, The Tucci Table, which he penned with wife Felicity Blunt.

But sadly in September 2021, the actor and dad-of-five revealed that he had been diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer three years prior.

Stanley received chemotherapy and radiation after a tumour was found at the base of his tongue.

Following his diagnosis and treatment, in October 2021, Stanley's memoir Taste: My Life Through Food was published, which illustrates his encounter and battle with cancer, as well as his passion and love of food.

In November 2022, Stanley said that there were still some foods he could not eat, as a result of his cancer.
